I love reading you. Thank you for the generosity with which you share the fruit of your passionate research! Your compassion in every post enlightens and inspires me!
Bravo, Stephanie! I’ve been studying and teaching the truth about empathy for five decades. You’ve really made a great gift with this piece of writing here. Thank you.
Only people who feel powerful view empathy as a weakness. If they were hurting or in need or at anyone’s mercy, they’d want others to be empathetic and to care more than they’ve ever wanted anything in their lives.
Interesting how there’s this strand of backlash about what empathy is and why it’s bad, from once disparate sectors. Within the tech community itself, also, there is a certain debate about whether or not human complexity of experience “matters” or not.
Oh yes, indeed!! And thank you for taking the time to post this argument. It’s absolutely true. The selfish would insist otherwise: they do that because it demoralizes people with empathy who are tired and hungry and feel pain. This is why it’s essential for those of us who understand how empathy works to get as much rest as we can, to take care of our bodies and then to situate ourselves in the flow of empathy as much as we can. God bless you, honey.
Thank you again Stephanie, for writing and sharing this piece! It strengthens the compassion in me, for me to lean in more towards it, especially in these difficult times of rampant individualism, capitalism and agenda oriented beliefs.
I am an Indian living in Germany, so a migrant, who has to face racism on a daily basis. It's all the more important now than ever, to hold on strong to the values of compassion & empathy, for our collective evolution as human species. Love & light to you and a heartfelt thank you again !
As always, thank you for putting in words what so many of us feel… these are frightening and unbelievable times 😔
They really are. I’m here for you!

Yikes! Empathy is a huge strength and lack thereof is so very problematic.

Phase 1 of Vought's plan is mass layoffs.
Phase 2 of Vought’s plan is to rehire Trump loyalists.
